Devil's Den is a favorite place to visit for families and children. There's always a lineup of youngsters climbing the rock and posing atop the enormous boulders. |

A close-up of the boulders. You really have to see them in person to appreciate the size and the natural cover they provided for Confederate sharpshooters exchanging fire with Union troops across the Valley of Death. |

The Pennsylvania Monument in a prominent place in the center of the battlefield. It's a beautiful and impressive structure. As you can see in the photo you can park right along side of it and enjoy this magnificent state tribute. |

These are the tents of reenactors who
are camping directly behind the Pennsylvania Monument pictured above.

Another view of the reenactor camp
ground directly behind the Pennsylvania Monument. Over the years the
Park has permitted any number of reenactor groups to camp here. So it's
a great place to check to see if any reenactor units are on the field.
What an honor it is to sleep on this hallowed ground.
Gettysburg visitors are indebted to the selfless devotion of reenactor units that travel great distances to share the history of their units with visitors to the Park. If you're fortunate enough to find a group camped here during your visit be sure to stop and talk with them. They'll make the history of their unit come alive for you. |

Monument to the 12th NJ who fought on the front line on the 3rd day of Battle. The placement of this unit was to the right of the Angle but still squarely in harms way. The tree line out of which Confederate troops stepped to begin their charge across the field is in the distance as is the fence on Emmitsburg road that hampered their progress . |
