Even if you miss this sign you'll
know that you're on top of Little Round Top because there are cars and
buses parked everywhere! This is one of the most popular spots on the
Gettysburg battlefield as you might imagine.

The majestic monument to the 91st PA
Infantry atop Little Round Top. Devil's Den is in the background on the
left of the monument.
Right behind the 91st PA Infantry
monument is this monument to the 91st PA Volunteer Regiment.
View of Devil's Den from Little Round
Top. The monument to the 16th Michigan Infantry can been seen on the
left. The South Mountains are on the horizon. They're often covered in a
haze. It's always a treat to see them this clearly.
Monument to Patrick Henry O'Rorke.
In an effort to defend the strategic Little Round Top O'Rorke led his 500 men in a
charge over the crest of the hill
and was killed after sustaining a bullet wound in the neck. He was 27
years old.
O'Rorke's monument is one of the
easiest to spot on the Battlefield despite its position atop Little
Round Top. If you'll enlarge this photo you'll see that he has a
conspicuously shiny nose! I don't know who first rubbed his nose for
good luck. However, it seems that no one thereafter could resist doing so. It remains
perpetually shined!
One of the most elaborate and
expensive monuments at Gettysburg is this monument to the 44th NY
Infantry. You can't miss it. It's the castle sitting on top of Little
Round Top.
This is the view of the crest of
Little Round Top as seen from the 44th NY Infantry monument. The
monument to the 91st PA Infantry pictured above is in the background.
